The Disneyland Paris Meal Plan

More flexibility, more choice – this is how the meals options work

With the Meal Plan, you can book and pay for part of your meals at Disneyland Paris together with your stay. Rather than choosing a fixed level of meal plan, you put together your Meal Plan from several options.

Breakfast is treated separately from the other meals. If you’re staying at a Disney Hotel, you can choose one or two meals for each night booked. At an official Partner Hotel, you can choose one meal per night. You then select one of four tiers: Essential, Extra, Signature or Royal. These primarily determine which restaurants and restaurant types are available to you.

Which option suits you best depends less on the Disney Hotel you’ve booked than on your dining plans. The main factors are how many meals you want to plan in advance and which restaurants interest you.

The Meal Plan uses vouchers that are loaded onto your MagicPass at check-in. You can use them flexibly: they are not tied to specific days but are valid for the entire duration of your stay. For example, if you have four vouchers for a two-day stay, you can redeem all four on a single day if you want to.

Important: The Meal Plan must be booked before you arrive and cannot be purchased on site. You should also book table-service restaurants and buffets as early as possible, as popular restaurants can book up quickly.

Note: regarding the new Disneyland Paris meal plan

How the Meal Plan options work

In practice, you make three decisions when choosing your dining option at Disneyland Paris:

  1. First, you decide how you want to handle breakfast. Depending on the accommodation you’ve booked, you can choose breakfast at the hotel, in the Disney Parks or in Disney Village. Official Partner Hotels offer their own breakfast options.
  2. Next, you decide how many additional meals you want. One meal per night booked can be used for either lunch or dinner. If you’re staying at a Disney Hotel, you can instead choose two meals per night, covering both lunch and dinner.
  3. Finally, you choose Essential, Extra, Signature or Royal. The tier you select determines which restaurants are covered by your Meal Plan. The options build on one another: Extra also includes the Essential restaurants, Signature includes the Extra restaurants, and Royal also includes the Signature selection.

Important: The Royal Meal Plan is available exclusively to guests staying at the Disneyland Hotel. If you’re staying at the Disneyland Hotel, you can choose between Signature and Royal. Essential and Extra are not available there.

An overview of the stages of the meal plan

The four Meal Plan tiers build on one another: each higher tier includes all the restaurants from the tier below and adds further options. Essential is the basic tier, while Royal offers the widest choice and is available exclusively to guests staying at the Disneyland Hotel. Conversely, Essential and Extra are not available to guests staying at the Disneyland Hotel.

Below, we take a closer look at the four tiers.

Essential

Essential is the basic tier of the new Meal Plan and includes a total of 18 restaurants. You can choose from ten quick-service restaurants, five buffets and three table-service restaurants.

Essential therefore offers a mix of all three restaurant types, but the focus is clearly on quick service, in other words fast food. This tier is best suited if you prefer to plan your meals fairly spontaneously and only occasionally want to visit a buffet or table-service restaurant.

Extra

Extra expands the choice to 25 restaurants. All restaurants included in Essential are also available with this tier, with additional buffets and table-service restaurants added to the selection. In total, you can choose from nine buffets and six table-service restaurants, as well as ten fast-food restaurants in the two Disney Parks.

Extra is therefore particularly suitable if you want to have at least one relaxed meal each day at a buffet or table-service restaurant and would like a little more choice among the table-service restaurants without moving straight to a more expensive tier.

Signature

Signature includes 31 restaurants, including all those available with the Extra Meal Plan. The selection also increases to eleven buffets and ten table-service restaurants. The ten quick-service restaurants remain included as well.

The main difference compared with Extra is the wider choice of table-service restaurants and buffets. Signature is a good option if you plan to visit several of these restaurants during your stay and want as few restrictions as possible when choosing where to eat.

Royal

The Royal Meal Plan is the most comprehensive tier and is available exclusively to guests staying at the Disneyland Hotel. It includes all restaurants from the Signature tier and increases the total selection to 35 restaurants.

The key difference is Character Dining: four restaurants offering meals with Disney Characters are included in the Royal Meal Plan. You can use each of your Meal Vouchers for a corresponding lunch or dinner with Disney Characters. You should also book your preferred Character Dining meal as early as possible. The meals available with Disney Characters can change, so it is best to check the current selection again shortly before your stay.

Redeeming your meal plan vouchers

You use your Meal Vouchers via your MagicPass. At restaurants included in your chosen Meal Plan tier, you can use them to pay for the designated set menus or buffet. What is included depends on the type of restaurant.

  • Quick Service (Fast Food): Main course, side dish and a non-alcoholic drink. The children’s menu also includes a dessert.
  • Buffet: All-you-can-eat buffet and a non-alcoholic drink.
  • Table-service restaurant: At least a starter and a main course, or a main course and a dessert. The menus available depend on the individual restaurant.

The vouchers also have a monetary value. You can generally use this value towards your bill at all participating restaurants in the Disney Parks and Disney Hotels, as well as at selected restaurants in Disney Village.

Separate rules apply to breakfast vouchers: they can only be used for breakfast and are only accepted at designated restaurants. Some restaurants in Disney Village do not accept Meal Vouchers at all.

Character Dining and the meal plan

If you’d like to dine with Disney Characters during your stay, that is of course possible. Whether Character Dining is covered by your Meal Plan, however, depends on the tier you have chosen.

Character Dining is not included with Essential, Extra or Signature. At participating restaurants, you can still use the monetary value of your voucher towards the bill and pay the difference.

The Royal Meal Plan works differently. You can use your Meal Vouchers for lunch or dinner with Disney Characters, up to the maximum number of vouchers included in your Meal Plan. In theory, you could therefore have a meal with Disney Characters every day during your stay, or even two, depending on the dining option you have chosen. You still need to make a reservation at the relevant restaurants, and should do so as early as possible.

Separate rules apply to breakfast with Disney Characters. If you have booked breakfast at your Disney Hotel, you can replace your hotel breakfast with a Character Breakfast for an additional charge and pay the difference on site. If you have chosen breakfast in the Disney Parks or in Disney Village, you cannot exchange this option for a breakfast with Disney Characters.

The available Character Dining options and the Disney Characters appearing at each restaurant can vary. You can find the current Character Dining options and reservation details in the Disneyland Paris app.

You can also find an overview of the restaurants offering Character Dining in the restaurant guide on this page.

Which meal plan is right for you?

Choosing the right Meal Plan for your Disneyland Paris trip basically comes down to three questions:

  1. How many meals do you want to plan in advance?
  2. Which restaurants are you interested in?
  3. Do you actually need a Meal Plan at all?

Here’s our view on these questions:

  1. One or two meals per night?
Two meals per night are the right choice if you regularly want to eat in a restaurant at both lunchtime and in the evening. If you prefer a snack or just something small at lunchtime and only plan one larger meal a day, the one-meal option will usually be enough. A substantial breakfast can also affect your decision.
Time is another factor to consider. If you choose the two-meal option, bear in mind that you will spend at least two to three hours in restaurants every day. If that is exactly what you want, perfect. If you are more likely to feel that you are missing out on other things, it is better to choose just one meal.
  2. Which tier is right for you?
Essential is suitable if you mainly want to use Quick Service and do not need a huge choice of buffets or table-service restaurants. Extra gives you more choice of buffets and table-service restaurants. Signature is particularly relevant if you plan to visit several table-service restaurants or buffets during your trip. Royal is only available to guests staying at the Disneyland Hotel and is especially worthwhile if you enjoy Character Dining.
  3. Do you actually need a Meal Plan at all?
A Meal Plan is not automatically the best choice for every stay. If you plan to eat regularly at the included Disney restaurants and want to pay for part of your meals in advance, it can be a good choice. If you prefer to stay flexible, snack a lot, often decide spontaneously, want to spend as little time as possible eating, or are travelling with children who are no longer hungry after two chips and a chicken nugget anyway, you may be better off without a Meal Plan.

Before booking, a look at the restaurant list will therefore tell you more than the number of restaurants included. If most of your favourites are in a particular tier, you will usually already have a good indication of which Meal Plan best suits your stay.

Book and make a reservation

You can only book the Meal Plan in advance as part of your Disneyland Paris package. It cannot be added once you are there. However, you do not need to decide which restaurants you want to use your vouchers at when you book the Meal Plan.

Restaurant reservations are made separately. If you are staying at a Disney Hotel, you can reserve most restaurants as soon as your stay is confirmed. If you are staying at an official Partner Hotel, reservations can be made up to two months in advance.

You can make reservations through the Disneyland Paris app or website. For popular restaurants such as Walt’s - an American Restaurant, Downtown Restaurant or Chez Remy, as well as Character Dining, you should not wait too long. Most importantly, a Meal Plan does not guarantee you a table at your chosen restaurant.

Frequently asked questions about the meal plan

  • Can I book the Meal Plan at a Partner Hotel?

Yes. You can also book a Meal Plan if you are staying at an official Partner Hotel. However, only the option with one meal per night booked is available. Partner Hotels offer their own breakfast options.

  • Can I add the Meal Plan once I am there?

No. The Meal Plan must be booked as part of your hotel package before you arrive.

  • Do I have to use my Meal Vouchers every day?

No. The vouchers are not tied to specific days. You can decide how to use them throughout your stay.

  • Is the Meal Plan also valid on the day of departure?

Yes. You can also use any remaining Meal Vouchers on the day of departure.

  • Can I use my voucher at a restaurant that is not included in my tier?

Meal Vouchers have a monetary value that can generally also be used at restaurants that are not included in your Meal Plan tier. You may need to pay the difference between the voucher value and the price of your meal.

  • Is Character Dining included in the Meal Plan?

Character Dining is not included with Essential, Extra or Signature, but the monetary value of your voucher can be used towards the bill. With the Royal Meal Plan, Character Dining is included for guests staying at the Disneyland Hotel.

  • Does the Meal Plan automatically include a table reservation?

No. The Meal Plan and restaurant reservations are separate. You should reserve your table separately for buffets, table-service restaurants and Character Dining.

  • When can I start making restaurant reservations?

If you are staying at a Disney Hotel, you can reserve most restaurants as soon as your booking is confirmed. Guests staying at official Partner Hotels can make table reservations up to two months in advance.
