The attractions in Frontierland
The Wild West at its finest – discover the little town of Thunder Mesa with all its secrets and attractions. Fun for cowboys, Indians, trappers and anyone who wants to be one.
In Frontierland, you can immerse yourself in the adventurous world of the Wild West, and the attractions you find here help to enhance this feeling.
You enter the western town of Thunder Mesa through Fort Comstock. This was a bustling place during the great gold rush. The men spent the gold they mined in and around Big Thunder Mountain straight away in the Lucky Nugget Saloon. And, of course, the town grew along with the gold rush. Restaurants and bars sprang up, shops opened – everything that made up a small town in the Wild West at that time. A little way outside the town centre, the railway stops, bringing not only supplies but also new settlers and trappers.
To get an overview of Frontierland, take a trip on the Rivers of the Far West on one of the paddle steamers.
From the ship, you will discover the old mansion located right next to the cemetery. However, be cautious, as is often the case with old buildings, it is rumoured to be haunted. If you are brave enough, you might dare to take a closer look at Phantom Manor and Boot Hill.
If you still haven't had enough fun, visit the Frontierland Playground. In this playground with teepees and a totem pole, you can feel like a real Native American.
In addition, you have the opportunity to meet some of the most popular Disney characters at various locations in Frontierland. You can find out which characters are currently available for a meet & greet in the programme booklet available at the entrance to Disneyland Park.
Westernland
Incidentally, Frontierland was initially supposed to be called 'Westernland', as is the case at Tokyo Disneyland. However, it was ultimately decided to use the name that is also common in the USA.
Unlike the US parks, Frontierland in Paris is located directly to the left of Main Street. In the two US parks, this space is reserved for Adventureland. What makes this location special is that it is where the largest crowds of visitors flock in the morning, as most visitors follow a clockwise route. So get up early to be among the first visitors to Frontierland, or move counter-clockwise and start your day in Discoveryland.
