Vegan food: Food for vegans at Disneyland Paris

As a vegan, you no longer have to live on chips and snacks you’ve brought with you at Disneyland Paris. The choice has been growing steadily for some time and ranges from simple fast food to vegan set menus in table-service restaurants.

Eating vegan at Disneyland Paris is much easier today than it was a few years ago. In both Disney Parks, the Disney Hotels and Disney Village, you’ll find plenty of restaurants offering at least one vegan dish. However, the range of options varies considerably. Sometimes there is just one vegan option on the menu, while in other restaurants you can choose from several dishes or even put together a multi-course vegan meal.

The choice is no longer limited to the classic plant-based burger. Depending on the restaurant, you’ll find dishes with pulses and vegetables, pasta with tomato sauce, bowls, or dishes from Middle Eastern and African cuisines, for example. Plant-based alternatives made from soya, peas or other plant-based ingredients also continue to play an important role. If you generally avoid these products, the choice is somewhat more limited. You’ll still find dishes that do without traditional meat substitutes.

A bit of planning is still useful, though. Menus and individual dishes change from time to time. A restaurant labelled ‘Vegan’ by Disneyland Paris is not necessarily a vegan restaurant. The label simply means that one or more vegan options are available there. Not every dish that looks plant-based at first glance is automatically vegan either. If you’ve been following a strictly plant-based diet for some time, this won’t come as a surprise. The same applies at Disneyland Paris: checking carefully is always worthwhile.

On this page, we’ll show you how well you can eat vegan at Disneyland Paris, which restaurants offer particularly interesting options and what you should look out for. Rather than listing every single vegan dish, we’ll focus on information that remains useful over time. For the latest options, it is always worth checking the relevant menus.

How good the vegan options are at Disneyland Paris

The vegan options at Disneyland Paris are now extensive enough that you can plan your holiday without too much difficulty. You don’t need to do a lot of preparation in advance just to work out where you can find something suitable if you follow a plant-based diet. However, there are clear differences between restaurants. At some table-service restaurants, you can order a complete vegan three-course meal. This will usually include a vegan starter, a vegan main course and a vegan dessert.

At fast-food restaurants, the selection varies more. Some restaurants offer just one vegan option, while others have several dishes to choose from. The buffets at Disneyland Paris can also offer a good selection. However, it is difficult to say in general how many items are actually vegan, as this depends on the restaurant and the current buffet selection.

Overall, you can now eat vegan quite easily at Disneyland Paris. However, you should not expect a huge choice in every restaurant. If you are flexible and not set on a particular dish or type of restaurant, you will usually find something suitable without too much difficulty.

Labelling of vegan dishes

Vegan dishes are usually easy to identify on Disneyland Paris menus. Next to the relevant dish, you’ll find a green, leaf-shaped symbol with the word ‘VEGAN’ in white. This lets you see at a glance which dishes are intended for a strictly plant-based diet.

It is important to distinguish between an individual dish and the restaurant itself. If Disneyland Paris labels a restaurant as ‘Vegan’ in its overview, this does not mean that it serves exclusively or predominantly vegan food. The label simply indicates that at least one vegan option is available. You can only see how extensive the choice actually is by checking the relevant menu.

If a dish has no clear label or you are unsure about individual ingredients, it is better to ask. With sauces, desserts or seemingly simple side dishes in particular, it is not always obvious at first glance whether they are completely free from animal-derived ingredients.

Vegan highlights

A vegan diet doesn’t have to be boring, and it certainly doesn’t have to consist only of salad. The following examples from Disneyland Paris show how varied it can be, even in a theme park. This is not about judging quality or taste, as that will always be subjective. Instead, we’re highlighting a few options that go beyond the usual standard vegan choice, offer several different dishes or stand out with slightly less common alternatives.

  • Walt's – an American Restaurant: The current menu features one vegan starter, one vegan main course and one vegan dessert. This means you can put together a complete three-course vegan meal here.
  • Captain Jack's – Restaurant des Pirates: Here, too, you’ll currently find a vegan option for each course. The starter, main course and dessert reflect the restaurant’s Caribbean-influenced style of cuisine.
  • Colonel Hathi's Pizza Outpost: An interesting option if you’re looking for dishes without traditional meat substitutes. You’ll regularly find vegan dishes with rice, lentils, vegetables and other ingredients that reflect the restaurant’s Indian and South Asian-influenced menu.
  • Stark Factory: At Marvel Avengers Campus, the vegan selection is not limited to traditional fast food. Depending on the current menu, you may find pasta or bowls with vegetables, grains and other plant-based ingredients, for example.
  • Nordic Crowns Tavern: World of Frozen also offers vegan options that reflect the restaurant’s Nordic-inspired menu. This gives you another option for a fully plant-based meal in this part of Disney Adventure World.
  • Seasonal chalets: The seasonal stalls are worth checking as well. Around Place de Rémy and in Fantasyland, additional chalets open at different times of year and regularly offer genuinely tasty vegan dishes. The exact selection changes with the season.

Menus and individual dishes can change at any time. If you’re particularly interested in one of these restaurants, check the current menu again before your visit.

Tips for vegans at Disneyland Paris

  • Check the menus before your visit: The selection can change, and a vegan option is not automatically something you will enjoy. Check the menus before you go. This lets you see in advance which restaurants might suit you.
  • Pack a few snacks: This is a good idea for almost anyone visiting Disneyland Paris, but it is particularly useful if you are vegan. If you cannot find anything suitable at a particular moment or the vegan option available does not appeal to you, you will still have something to eat and will not have to plan your day around meals.
  • Don’t rule out plant-based substitutes altogether: Burgers, nuggets and other plant-based alternatives make up part of the vegan selection. If you generally do not like these products, your choice will be more limited. You are not dependent on them, though, as there are also dishes that do without traditional meat substitutes.
  • Ask if you are unsure: Not every dish that looks completely plant-based at first glance is automatically vegan. Sauces, dressings, pastries or desserts, for example, may contain animal-derived ingredients. If in doubt, speak to a Cast Member and ask for the allergen folder or allergen guide. These provide information on the main allergens contained in the dishes.
  • Plan a little more carefully if you are using a Meal Plan: Even if a restaurant offers a vegan option, that does not automatically mean it will suit your taste. If you want to use a Meal Plan, check the menus of the restaurants you are considering beforehand and plan your meals at least roughly. This can help you avoid unpleasant surprises during your visit.
