Family fun in Radiator Springs

Imagine being right in the middle of the bustle of Radiator Springs. That is what Cars Race Rally offers in Worlds of Pixar. You take a seat in one of twelve colourful vehicles with friendly faces, and the ride begins. The cars spin on their axes, lean into the bends and come dangerously close to one another before pulling apart again at the last moment. There are no collisions, even if it sometimes looks that way for a moment. Lightning McQueen and Mater watch from the sidelines, looking suspiciously amused.

Cars Race Rally is full of details from the film. Flo’s V8 Café, Luigi’s Casa Della Tires and Ramone’s House of Body Art bring Radiator Springs within touching distance. If you know the film, you will recognise familiar sights throughout the area. If you do not, the attraction may well make you want to watch it. The queue area is also themed, with plenty to discover before the ride itself begins if you look closely. This is particularly useful when the wait takes a little longer.

A handy tip to start with: Each vehicle can accommodate up to four people, but only one adult may sit in each row. Four adults therefore need to split between two vehicles. Bear this in mind when boarding so that your group is not separated unexpectedly.
The attraction is primarily aimed at families with younger children, but it is by no means only for the youngest visitors. Cars fans should not miss it either.

The ride looks considerably calmer from the outside than it feels once you are on board. Climb in and try it for yourself.

Cars – the film on which Cars Race Rally is based

Cars Race Rally is based on the 2006 Pixar animated film Cars. The story centres on the sleepy town of Radiator Springs on Route 66 and a young racing car named Lightning McQueen, who learns far more there than how to drive. The film was directed by John Lasseter, best known to many for Toy Story. The German-language version features the voices of Daniel Brühl and Rick Kavanian, among others.

If you have not seen the film before your park visit, or have not watched it for some time, it is well worth revisiting. Cars Race Rally is all the more enjoyable afterwards.

Who is this attraction suitable for?

Cars Race Rally is the perfect attraction for families with younger children and all Cars fans who want to experience Radiator Springs up close. If you’re looking for a gentle but entertaining ride, this is the place for you. If, on the other hand, you’re after an adrenaline rush, you’d be better off heading over to Crush’s Coaster or RC Racer. And if you’re prone to feeling queasy on spinning rides, you should bear that in mind too.

Tips for Cars Race Rally

  • The ride is wilder than it looks from the outside – anyone who is sensitive to spinning movements or prone to vertigo should probably just watch from the sidelines.
  • Taller or larger visitors may find it a bit cramped at the front of the vehicle – you should bear this in mind when organising your group or family.
  • Cars Race Rally is very popular with families, so the queue fills up quickly. Experience shows that it’s a bit less busy early in the morning or towards the evening.
