The RC Racer isn’t for the faint-hearted – nor is it suitable for very young children. You won’t be allowed in if you’re under 1.20 m, and the cast members take this very seriously. If you’re prone to vertigo or have a sensitive stomach, you’re better off watching from the sidelines. For everyone else – older children, teenagers and adults looking for a proper adrenaline rush – this attraction is a must-do at Toy Story Playland.
As soon as the safety restraints are locked, the ride begins. RC Racer races up the half-pipe, climbing higher and higher until it reaches the highest point at around 25 metres. The moment when you are briefly hanging against the restraint and looking down is the core of the experience. From there, the car speeds through the half-pipe and back again until the swinging motion gradually dies down. You will need a head for heights and a reasonably strong stomach.
The queue is an experience in itself. The floor is designed like a Carrera track, the barriers resemble roadside construction signs, and small details throughout make it look as though Andy has only just left his toys lying in the garden. It is well designed, but offers no protection from rain or sun. In midsummer, bring sun cream and a bottle of water, as the wait can be long.
