Buzz Lightyear at the entrance to Toy Story Playland

Toy Story Playland

Meet the heroes from the Toy Story films in this part of Disneyland Paris

Imagine suddenly being as small as a toy. That is the idea behind Toy Story Playland at Disney Adventure World. Oversized building blocks, a Pixar ball as big as a house, dominoes and colourful construction toy pieces lining the paths, and strings of lights overhead: Andy’s garden has been designed down to the smallest detail and is enjoyable to explore even before you have visited a single attraction.

Buzz Lightyear greets you at the entrance, impossible to miss, standing proud and ready for the next adventure. Behind him, the land opens out to reveal its three attractions: Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop, Slinky Dog Zigzag Spin and RC Racer. Each one represents a different toy from Andy’s bedroom and has its own character. Slinky Dog Zigzag Spin takes you on a leisurely ride in circles, Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop carries you high into the air, and RC Racer sends you racing along a half-pipe.

Toy Story Playland stands out for its attention to detail. The Imagineers even considered the fact that children’s bedrooms rarely contain complete toy sets. Children simply combine whatever is available. The queue for RC Racer resembles a Carrera slot-car track, while the racer itself travels along a half-pipe. One of Andy’s model aeroplanes lies beside Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop, while Andy has left a few plastic bones and a baseball for Slinky at Slinky Dog Zigzag Spin. Look closely and you will find small stories like these throughout the land.

Toy Story Playland has been part of Disney Adventure World since 2010. It now also has a second entrance. Toy Story Garden, where giant statues of Woody and Jessie await and several benches offer a place to rest, leads to Adventure Way and its attractive promenade around Adventure Bay.

Who is Toy Story Playland suitable for?

Toy Story Playland is one of the most family-friendly areas within Worlds of Pixar at Disney Adventure World. Slinky Dog Zigzag Spin is ideal for the youngest children, while Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop is also suitable for slightly braver children. RC Racer, however, is not for the faint-hearted. It looks less intimidating from the outside than it really is and is considerably more intense than the other two attractions in the area, particularly for anyone with a sensitive stomach. You can also have plenty of fun simply walking through the land and looking for details, without going on a single ride.

Tips for Toy Story Playland

  • The attractions have limited capacity, so queues can build quickly. Head here when the park opens and ride your favourite attraction first.
  • Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop and RC Racer both have a Single Rider Line. If you are on your own or want to reduce your wait, this can get you onto the ride more quickly. You will not be able to ride with your group, however.
  • Take some time to explore beyond the attractions as well. Andy’s garden is full of small surprises.
  • Keep your camera close at hand. Rex and the Pixar Ball are just two of the photo spots you should not miss.
