Animation Academy

Learn how to draw a Disney character yourself

At the Animation Academy, you can roll up your sleeves and bring a Disney character to life, one line at a time. Here, the spotlight shines on your own creativity instead of passive entertainment. This is a one-of-a-kind adventure at Disneyland Paris.

The Animation Academy is located in the Art of Disney Animation building in Disney Adventure World and invites you to take a look behind the scenes of Disney animation. Under the guidance of an experienced animator, you’ll create your own drawing, which you can take home with you at the end. This turns a visit into more than just an experience; you’ll also create a personal keepsake.

Here, the excitement comes not from speed or adrenaline, but from focusing your mind, letting your creativity flow, and sharing the moment with others. The calm setting invites you to slow down, settle in, and patiently shape your own creation, one step at a time.

Even without any prior experience or particular talent for drawing, you can take part with ease. The individual steps are clearly structured and explained in a straightforward way, so you can follow along at any time. This makes the Animation Academy suitable for both children and adults, regardless of whether you draw regularly or are picking up a pencil for the first time.

Joining in is free, though spots fill up quickly, so arriving early is a smart move. With drawing sessions running throughout the day, you can easily catch the next one if a session is full. For those seeking a calmer pace, the Animation Academy is a refreshing, creative break from the park’s usual excitement.

In the next section, you’ll find out exactly how the Animation Academy works.

What to expect at the Animation Academy

As soon as the session begins, you’ll be given paper and a pen and guided step by step through the drawing process. The animator explains each individual step and shows you how a familiar Disney character gradually takes shape from simple shapes.

Even without prior knowledge, the process is easy to follow because the instructions are clearly structured and supported by visual aids. The individual steps are explained in an easy-to-understand way, so you can follow along at any time.

The atmosphere is calm and focused, but still relaxed so you can enjoy drawing. During the session, the animators share insights about their work and fun facts from the world of Disney animation.

At the end, you’ll have your own drawing to take home—a personal keepsake that’s much more special than a typical souvenir.

This is how a drawing course works

  • You take a seat at a drawing table designed in typical Disney style. From every seat, you have a good view of the animator leading the session.
  • A session usually lasts around 20 to 30 minutes and takes place several times a day. Places are limited, so it’s advisable to arrive early.
  • During the session, you follow the animator’s instructions. Step by step, your drawing takes shape – a process that’s easy even for beginners to follow.
  • The sessions are often conducted in French, though many animators provide additional guidance in English. As the instructions are largely visual, you can take part easily even without any knowledge of the language.

Who would benefit from the Animation Academy?

The Animation Academy is aimed at guests of all ages. Children, teenagers and adults can all take part and achieve great results, regardless of their level of drawing ability.

For families in particular, the Animation Academy offers a welcome change from the park’s attractions. At the same time, it also gives Disney fans and creative guests the chance to explore the world of animation in greater depth.
